Fight for the Last Post

As Summertown is left fighting for it's last Post Office and a petition of over 500 local residents demanding a local Post Office remains open goes unanswered by Royal Mail, local MP Dr Evan Harris welcomed the news that PostWatch will be investigating the issue:

"Post Offices are the lifeblood of communities, providing vital face-to-face access for local residents to Government, postal and commercial services.

"Over the last two decades, post offices have been closing at a rate of over 300 a year. The Liberal Democrats are campaigning for action to save the Post Office network before it is too late with a costed and credible set of proposals to keep post offices open and, where necessary, to open others."
