Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, Dr Evan Harris, has nominated two of his constituents for the prestigious 'MP Heroes Award' to be presented at 2.45pm on Sunday 16th July at Youlbury House. The two nominees are Mr Stanley Baker from Radley and Mr Anthony Purkis from Abingdon.

Mr Baker has had a lengthy career in local government. He has made enormous contributions to the Radley History Club and his local Church and despite having suffering from a devastating illness Mr Baker has worked tirelessly for his local community.

Mr Purkis, a former international businessman, has shown devotion to a range of voluntary work since his retirement. He has made an outstanding contribution to local mental health and learning disability associations.

The Heroes award is organised by the Experience Corps to cast the spotlight of praise onto those who operate silently and selflessly in many of the quietest corners of the UK.
